Trending is a habit- put it in the air!

I'm all amped up and excited - no, not because ALL my relatives are coming into town or my sister, Jocelyn's ensuing wedding this weekend... but simply because of these...

{Zippers... hats... chunky shoes...short hemlines...sparkly jacket- buy me a ticket for the Trend Express}

I started Googling some of my favorite Hills gals today which lead to crazily looking at Audrina and Lauren pictures and just became reobsessed with their trendy style.

Don't get me wrong... I love a good classic look.

  • The White button-up every woman should have? Got it.
  • The LBD? B*tch, I have 4,500 of those.
  • Kitten heels to complement the perfect work outfit? Hi, I'm Caitlin have we met?

{Right: Me "classically" dressed in Wisconsin}

But to be frank- sometimes (a.k.a. very often) I love a funky look Ala mode Gwen Stefani.

{Left: Trending it up in LA}

Trust me, I never dress anywhere nearly as cool as her (nor am I as cool as her in general) but the way she does such a non-classical look so frequently just makes me swoon.

What can I say? I love me some funk in my style crushes..

Gwen Stefani

Menswear, Leopard, Rocker, Funk - all rolled into one, streamlined trend.

Cher & Dion

The ultimate trend followers- but really, if they hadn't been dressed like that, would the movie been half as good? Ok- yes but I still love the eye candy.

Rihanna just got on a worst-dressed list but I think that's ridiculous. Her outfits are always bizarre and stand out and I couldn't love them more.

Chloe Sevigny

Ahhh, I love whatever individualistic look she has goin' on. Nuff said.

Samantha & Carrie

I don't think they dressed these two traditionally ONCE during the entire series. I simply love, love, love the inspiration.

Emily Charlton (character name) in Devil Wears Prada

As fierce about her in-the-now fashion sense as she was about insulting Andrea.

& last but certainly not least...

Phoebe Buffay

Obviously Rachel was the resident Fashionista on Friends... but I believe that Phoebe was the one who was truly inspired by trends and funkadelic finds. Her quirky personality always shined- inside and out. Doesn't just looking at pictures of her make you smile!?

Happy, Happy Wednesday!

PS: I dedicate this blog title to MirMir

PPS: I love Lauren Conrad more and more every day. She might be one of my all-time fashion faves.

There is so much to comment on I'll have to skip a few, but: It's amazing how you manage the time for posts like this what with relatives coming into town for your sister's wedding!; I love the look of the short hemmed white tiered dress too; Your "classically" dressed look is stunning; Whomever put Rihanna on a "worst dressed" look for wearing that dress must have been smoking crack. Rihanna looks fantastic in that adorable dress.; Chloe Sevigne looks hot in the lingerie as outerwear look which was popularized by Madonna and made into the current fashion rage by Lady Gaga, and; I love that fierce woman look Emily Charlton shows in that photo.

I love these crazy styles but I always feel lie a fool and I haven't gone shopping in I don't know how long (due to trying to reach weight goal and then mommy promised to buy me a new wardrobe!) and I try to do the classic style more than trendy because it's safer (sad for me) but then you can get statement pieces here and there and mix it up with the classic you have...

haha maybe when I have legs like yours or LC i'll rock a hemline that short!

I love that you have chloe. Her style is funky and cool and underappreciated. I'm a fan too.

Phoebe on the other hand...haha. jk.

Totally agree with you on Gwen, Rihanna and Emily from DWP.

Not so sure on Cher and Dion... although, I'm not a fan of 90s fashion.

Hope you had a good easter! :)

commenting on the comment you left on my post.....
NOPE. I'm not engaged. But we do know that we are going to be day!
We both want to finish school and get our careers going before we get ahead of ourselves and get married. We know we would be able to make things work, but we just don't want to put ourselves in such a stressful position.
We both know our love for each other, but we just don's see the point in rushing. We are only about to be 22. It's really exciting to look forward to it though!

Yay! Phoebe Buffay doesn't get nearly enough love! Were you "just going to die" if you didn't get a Y necklace, too? :p

Oh I love your take on the style subject. I never regarded Phoebe as "the stylish one"- but hell you are right :)
Loving your LA look a lot
I cannot wait about your stories from the wedding :)
And what were you wearing???

Anonymous said...

I LOVE what Audrina is wearing in one of the pictures you've posted.
Although I get what you mean by adding funk to your wardrobe, I love colours and new designs, but I am never gonna wear something that Carrie or Phoebe wears. I just don't think I can pull them off, if you know what I mean. But, if you wear any thing like that soon, please take loads of pictures and model them off for us! :)
