Pink, Floppy hats & Soccer- hello Saturday.

Well, the party Friday night was just as fun as I suspected. I'm going to fill you in on that tomorrow-- but quickly, I wanted to proudly shout from the rooftops that... THE SUN IS HERE!

{Sun. Finally. 6.12.2010- recognize the pink dress??}

It couldn't have come at a better time than during the USA vs. UK world cup soccer match. Don't get me wrong: I don't care about Soccer really at all, but if you tell me it's a big game and will make for a fun day- I'm in.

{LEFT: Inside the Thirsty Lion Pub during the game. RIGHT: USA Superfan}

So yesterday, I pretended with fervor that I had been anticipating this game for months on end and truly cared about the outcome (I didn't). I did care about getting downtown at 10am to our Portland/British Bar "The Thirsty Lion" pub and laughing with Friends as we belted out our National Anthem prior to the game (I do care about that- in fact it gave me goosebumps!).

{Downtown Saturday after the game with The Boy and Brian}

Across town, my British Brother-in-Law who DID care about the game was apparently all business and no play as he watched (this is information my Sister gave me via text). The UK was heavily slated to win and we ended up with a tie... which my Sister told me via text after the game that Dan was not happy about at all.

After the game; The Boy and I did some shopping at Saturday Market- an outdoor, vendor style experience with doo-dads and fun, original items- it is where I picked up this pink, floppy, beach hat and about fell over with love for it.

I immediately started using it as we went to the Pool and lounged, took naps and read...

{Summmmaatime, and the livin's easy}

I LOVED this girl's swimsuit and I love the necklace she put with it- very fancy for sitting poolside.

{Fashionable at its finest}

Later in the night, when I asked Dan, my bro-in-law, later how he felt ("ask" is a little strong- he walked in the door to me singing "Oh say can you see..."), he said "hey, it's not a loss, so I'm happy".

Win/Lose/Tie- the game was fun. And at the end of the day, the USA's best friend is none other than the United Kingdom so I was just happy to regale in the joy of pure sportsmanship...in the sun no less.

PS- Soccer Players are hunkyyyyy

You are so cute!! It sounds like you and your crew would have been a blast to watch the game with.
By the way, do you have any tips on Portland? I am planning a trip sometime in the next year (broad timeframe, I realize). I love getting a local's perspective =)

Funny commentary on the World Cup. Sorry your brother-in-law's day suffered such a blow with the tie.

At least with soccer, you can enjoy a big game atmosphere and talk and do whatever since you are likely not going to miss much on the field with only 1 or 2 goals scored in seemingly every game that I watch.

ooooh... you look so adorable. This hat is such a cute piece and really perfect for beach/pool/etc.
I think the atmosphere during the games is so much fun, it is the best part of the worldcup. I think it is so funny that your sister and her husband now had a match "against each other", haha :)
