As I mentioned before.. I am not a delicate flower who can't handle certain activities such as Camping. I love being outside, waking up in a tent and swimming in lakes. I love smelling like campfire, cooking hot dogs and roasting Marshmallows. I do love to camp.
Henceforth (fancy), I agreed to go on a camping trip last weekend with a group of my friends. I figured spending time with my usual crew outside the confines of our regular digs would be a wonderful way to spend the weekend. And it was.
{Luckily, my Dad is an outdoorsy Dad and his camping area in his storage room is a lot like REI. I can just stop by after dinner with The Boy and pack anything I would ever need! Me packing 7/15/2010}

Camping without a bathroom and running water is a bit not my scene. As much as I loved curling up in my sleeping bag and having my hair in a ponytail all weekend.. I didn't like greeting the morning and using the restroom by crouching behind our structure and watching the pee inevitably graze down my ankle and onto my dirt-covered foot: EVERY TIME (if Freud had camping in mind when he discussed P*nis-Envy than I gotta say he was very right).
I was basically wearing dirt & pee on my feet and ankles with as much coverage as an Ugg boot.
I camp every single summer and enjoy it every time. But our camping spots always give you access to a bathroom with running water, toilet paper, mirrors and showers. That's how I like to camp and I'll combat any faux-granolay person who tells me I'm not a true camper because of that. Props to you if you love spending the entire weekend like you're at burning man but just don't judge me for enjoying some pieces of home.
Despite the less-than-stellar bathroom situation, it was actually a great weekend. Lots of friends, lots of laughs, great food, swimming, etc.: the whole shebang. We basically romped around, covered in pee, looking like sh*t... enjoying the beautiful summer weekend.
And I had mascara on the whole time.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it Hippie.
{The amazing views Oregon has to offer. There is Mount Hood as seen during our hike}
{Me, Miranda & Megan in our tent. I love these weird pictures}
{Sharing a moment}
{Miranda, Me and Megan enjoyed beautiful Lost Lake}
{Loving the pink floatie}
{Games with the birthday boy}
{The group. Love them. Skirted swimsuits are my savior due to my large derriere}
{Lounging around the campsite. See large butt stage left}
{I know.. I know- take it to MySpace, right?}
Happy Tuesday my pretty friends
PS: Great read on bringing Glamour to the Outdoors.

This is basically amazing and looks like a ridiculously fun time even with urine ankle and smelly pits. I freaking rolled laughing just thinking about the crouch and dad made us do the hardcore camping sans bathrooms and showers every year when I was growing up - and, yes, in adolescence I full on packed the mascara and wore it every day.

I freaking love camping. Bring it on. If you can't smell smoke in your hair, you ain't campin'.

LOVE IT!! You're so lucky to live in Oregon! You look fantastic for someone who was roughing it outdoors!!

ps - stop by tomorrow I'm having a giveaway for a couple Ebelskiver pans and the Williams-Sonoma turning tools aka chop stick things. Dude, I eat those ebelskivers 3 -4x/week now. Gongshow!!

Haha, cracking up at the name of this post! :P

I used to have to go camping all the time when I was in high school as part of our school trips. I was much more the outdoorsy type then and didn't really care about clothes/make-up/etc. so it was much easier for me then. But I don't know if I'd be able to handle it now! I've got mild OCD, so not being able to shower might be a bit of a problem (I guess I could go somewhere where there's a stream/river/lake!) and that pee/dirt situation does NOT sound fun :P We used to use leaves as toilet paper and carry around wet wipes. Oh, and the insects... eek!

But maybe I should try to get back to nature... I'm sure it's a humbling experience to live in the outdoors, even for just a few days!

There's pretty much nothing about camping I would enjoy, but you've made it look fun! (Is that beer pong I spy?)

prefer it with the running water, toilets and such too...
but so enjoyable either way!
glad you had fun.

The fact that you can look that good with no running water is modern technology is not fair!

I LOVE THIS! and I agree the only bad thing about camping is pooping on the ground but if you go somewhere gorgeous like that I think it's worth it! but holy heck do you look good camping! after two days I looks like some swamp monster that just came out of the lake!

The last pic is sweeeeeet :))

Such beautiful scenery all around you! And it does look like "glamping" judging by your pretty outfits, missy! Although the whole 'Ugg boot' story rips it off some extra glam lol

Bahaha this is hilarious. Good for you, this girl would never have survived. I don't do camping, with or without a bathroom. Looks like you had an amazing time!

Awww, I love looking at lovey dovey pics, so I don't mind at all!

Hmm, I don't think I'll be able to do camping hehe:P

Hello Gal, wassup!! Looks like you had gr8 fun :-). I have to admit I'm just like you, my idea of camping is exactly the same you told here word by word. You know people like us are little close to comfort and we wont like it if the things are not what we want...also for us idea of the fun comes with you were at the right place :). I'm sure would look gr8 in the other swimsuits too...your 'derriere' is your asset. By the way, I liked the last pictures..hmmm...romantic !!

Ha!! I always claim that I'm totally into camping, but I'm the exact same, i prefer showers and toilets!! Oh, and I must say you don't have a huge butt. I am also Italian and I got a flat butt, I am a little jealous of anyone who's got a bit of a bum!! Great post! xx

BAHAHAHA I loved that little anecdote about pissing on your feet. One of the many unfortunate pitfalls of camping! It never seems to happen the way you envision it, right?

At any rate, looks like tons of fun. I love to camp too and you better believe I still put on a lil make up :) Also I think your bootay is fab and us big booty hoes gotta stick together. Booties unite!

At first I looked at the title of this post and was thinking, glamping... Is that a sport? Haha.
Your camping weekend looked like a ridiculously good time, i wish i was there! The bikini you wore to the lake is adorable. That's too bad about the bathroom situation, I don't know if I would have been brave enough to deal with that!

You and your boy are so cute together! I definately share you opinions on camping! I like to know that there is a bathroom nearby and at least and airbed to sleep on!

..oooh Caitlin , you look so glamorous even camping and like always I love your girly feminine look - cute dresses , hair etc ..wonderful ..
..we used to camp when I was a little girl with all the big family , we don't camp anymore , but you know what - emotion is what counts , look how amazing time you had , sometimes the 5 star hotel can be the most boring place on the planet ..

..that place is truly amazing - I LOVED to be there and camp and see the stars in the night ..

Lost Lake Campground is probably the most ideal "glamping" spot on Mt. Hood thanks to the general store and amenities. Such an awesome spot.
