Fall 2010: Boots, Silk & Horses

Here comes an original thought: I fall fashion.

I know- that is so shocking and unlike anyone else but I just had to say it. Why in July? Because I was at the gym reading my August Vogue and they included this pictorial of Raquel Zimmerman modeling fall fashion.

Holy crap- what is better than fall clothes? It makes me start to wonder what staple pieces I'm going to purchase for the dusky autumn.

I hate and love that more thought has to go into your fall/winter clothes. In the summer it's easy to grab an $8.00 tank top somewhere or $12.00 flip-flops and dance until the lights come on at the bar. Whereas in the fall, with the heavier materials and the sturdiness and quality needed to endure the weather, the purchases aren't so simple. Items like jackets, boots, sweaters are investment pieces which most likely, require a bit more money and time to find and purchase. I hate the bigger bill but I always appreciate my sound fall wardrobe pieces (especially because they carryover every year, unlike the $8.00 tank top).

Besides over-the-knee brown boots which I am planning on investing in towards the end of summer, I hadn't quite pinpointed other items I need to start scouting. But this shoot gave me a few ideas...

A cape jacket

A dramatic, silk, neck-tie blouse

A voluminous, colorful, inspired skirt

A streamlined, earth-toned, fitted outfit.

Not a jumpsuit (oh the horror imagining me squeezing into that, but perhaps this look in a dress?)

Not to mention mile-long legs, insane hair and a horse...

Enjoy your Wednesday :)

Nothing is better than fall fashion! Well... few things. Let us know if you get the horse. Or the boots. Whatever :)

Oh, and the craziness of my hair was that it had been perfectly straight like 2 minutes before but, thanks crazy humidity, that went away before I even set foot outside lol.

MILE LONG LEGS AND A HORSE! I love it. :) But I'm with you entirely on the fall fashion--gotta say, as much as I love summer, I like winter clothes so much more. The jackets, scarves, boots, layers?? I guess I can easily love the colder seasons, cause I live in San Francisco, where it's never really THAT cold. ;) That cape jacket is to die for, btw.

I kinda love fall fashion. Like you said, summer is sometimes just too easy. I literally throw on a dress and let my curls air dry all of which takes two minutes. While winter you have scarfs and boots and jackets! So much more to love!

Hi gorgeous!

Well I am trying desperately hard NOT to think of fall fashion and enjoy the summer (it's my favorite season after all!) but you're making it so very hard with all these awesome photos! I saw a beautiful Love Moschino cape that I am lusting after ... technically it's a coat, and coats are always worth investing into, right??? :P

You are so sweet to swing by my blog when I haven't even posted :) I got into a habit of posting every day, but a few Twitter friends told me they prefer it when bloggers don't post as often because they don't get a chance to read blogs on a daily basis and feel overwhelmed! So I've cut down my posting to every other day.

Speaking of which, are you on twitter?? I'm trying to get all my favorite bloggers to sign up so I can chat with them there as well :) If you DO join let me know so I can follow you!

Hope you're having a great day!

Oh holy mother of pearl. I really don't know where I'll find the budget. Just tonight I searched for coins in the sofa to no avail...if only I had a horse to sell.

Ahhh! I am not ready for fall yet. I just got the new Pottery Barn catalog and there were pumpkins, etc. on all of the table centerpieces. It freaked me out a bit.

you are so right! summer clothes can be bought on the cheap without much thought! i just bought SIX dresses, all of them simple and easy and they will keep me cool in the heat. but fall clothes take more time, more money, and more thought to put together. but i love them all the same!

Oooh - these are lovely. But, sadly, I have no need for any of these. I get 10 months of hot weather, about 2 weeks of inbetween, and the rest just cold at night and morning. Sigh. But, I hate winter anyway!!!
Happy planning and shopping :-)
