U.S.A. ♥

I love my country.

This last weekend and the spirited celebration of my great nation just reinforced to me how much I love where I live, the rights I have here and my surroundings.

{Miranda, Surya, Shan and Me starting our 4th of July day}

I hope this respect for my home doesn't somehow insult any readers from across the globe... I'm in no way trying to belittle your country, but I do know that I love mine.

I love that, as a woman, I feel protected and safe and I can dress in a way I want without fear.

{Thou has the right to dress like a slut}

I love that I can bash or compliment any politician we have.

I love that I can be unabashedly, patriotically and wonderfully me without fear from an outlandish government.

And so what better way to embrace this beloved country of mine than by celebrating our day of Independence here in the beautiful States.

{We were a little camera happy...}

My 4th celebration started by sleeping until the ungodly hour of Noon as I had spent the day prior in Wine country for my girlfriend's bachelorette party (I will show you Oregon wine country tomorrow).

After that, it was getting up and heading downtown to see where the wind blew us. We didn't want to go to the City's huge gathering of fireworks on the waterfront- too many people, too many outhouses. So we did our own Pub/Restaurant tour and stopped at a few spots along the way for drinks and food.

After our bellies were full and our feet hurt; we finally arrived on the North side of the city to attend a 4th of July party held on a rooftop of some downtown condominiums.

{View of Portland from our rooftop party}

The roof was full of sparklers, people, Kegs, fires and excitement.

{Above: Various samplings of our downtown day!}

It was a great 4th of July and a special way to commemorate, acknowledge and fall in love with my blessed country!

What I wore:

I don't have too much red in my wardrobe (doesn't look great with my complexion) so I decided my all-American look would be Nautical: my white American Apparel top, nautical skirt and Nude Pumps- with just a dash of red in my bracelets.

How did you celebrate the 4th or enjoy your weekend??

Did you guys take enough pictures of yourselves? Haha. I'm just teasing. Love the spirit you all have. I skipped the red, white and blue wardrobe on the 4th but that's only b/c i couldn't find the sparkly sequined hat i was looking for. Seriously! It was horrendous yet festive.

Anyway, looks like a blast. Love the downtown shots.

sounds like a great day! I wish I could feel patriotic about some - ANY! - country, but I don't even feel that I'm *from* anywhere. When people ask me where I'm from, I always struggle to respond and end up giving a longwinded response involving about four different countries, none of which I feel particularly nationalistic about, LOL! I guess I'm just a global citizen :)

we celebrated with the most un-american food ever (enchiladas and quinoa salad) but had a blast at the pool! I wish I had an ounce of your style girly though because on the 4th I was looking like a wet dog!

Great summer outfit! I feel the same way - so glad I have the opportunities and liberties from growing up in the US (and you feel it when you live abroad!)

You can definitely wear a sari sometime! Indian weddings of course are the best time to wear them!
