Adorn the arm with red- no matter what Dad says.

Well, if there were any question that today was the day-after Labor day, today in the Pacific Northwest- Mother Nature answered it. The first unofficial day of Fall rang true- gray skies, lots of rain and an abundant need for a warm jacket. The upswing of this? I gently tucked away my shiny, light-blue patent-leather purse and bid it farewell until summer 2011. In lieu of it, I gladly pulled my red, faux Dolce and Gabbana purse out of retirement and prepared it for the upcoming fall/winter season.

{My shoes. My purse. The wet pavement. September 7, 2010}

I love this purse. Yes- it's fake but for me, that's half the fun and the better part of the story. I have been to NYC a lot in my life, though I'm on the west coast- my mother was born/raised in Philly. Thus, our trips to her family generally included a jaunt in the city. When I got to the age when I started to care of such things, I learned about the plethora of cheap, fake purses sold there. Ever since my visit- I have allowed myself one good fake for every time I roll through town. The last time I was in New York City was September 2009 (literally, in 8 days it will mark a year) and I was very excited for my newest installment.

After setting my budget ($20 bucks), I was ready to bargain! As my Dad and I sauntered through Battery Park, I saw the seller who I knew would take my Jackson: he had better variation in his purses and a much nicer display blanket. When I approached him he instantly told me "$60 bucks, $60 bucks- real designers"- honey, please, I know they ain't real. After whittling these purses down to my goal of $20 bucks (success!), I then had to decide on the one I wanted. Fooey Vuitton? Verfakse? I went back and forth- so I looked to the worst person in the world for women's fashion advice.

"Dad- what should I get??? This brown one or the red one?"

"Caitie, get the brown. Who has a red bag?"

Lots of people Dad... lots of people...

{Me- sporting my new red bag in NYC, Central Park, Sept. 2009}

And that happily includes me :)

Have a magnificent Wednesday!

That's totally what I would have said :)

Beautiful bag...I'm bad at carrying the expensive ones anyway - I always accidentally mess em up!

I love red! I just decided that I need a red bag to match my red nails for fall and winter. I remember my first faux purse experience; a black Kate Spade I bought in St. Thomas which had it's sticker "label" attached upon purchase. Gotta love it :)
