Ball is rolling... Chicago, Chicago...

So that was an unexpected blogging break, eh? I posted last week in the middle of my mundane week not knowing I wouldn't have the time or inclination again for the following days. Well... guess what happened?

Remember here when I went on (and on and on...) about how I applied for that job in Chicago and made it to the top two before not getting it? Well, I ended that post by saying I wasn't done with my desire to pursue a job in Chicago and that I already had things in the pipeline regarding another opportunity. They were definitely in the pipeline and they have continued moving forward because I just found out last week that I will be flying to Chicago next week for 2 days for interviews at their office.

{I'm going, going, back, back to Chicago, Chicago}

EEEEEEEeeeeee!!!

Words truly can't express how excited, anxious, apprehensive, grateful and elated I feel. The presentation I delivered in my last job pursuit currently has them willing to pay for all my expenses to fly there, stay there and interview there for two days. But that is what is getting me to Chicago.

NOW- it's my turn to show them why I should stay there. It has become my painstaking goal this week to do well at this interview. I have been stepping outside of my box- meeting with old colleagues, requesting letters of recommendation and asking people I know with experience (i.e. my longtime friend's Dad is a retired Recruiter and I sat with him for a few hours) to hammer me out and provide me with anything to allow me to shine for the interview (how grateful I am that so many helpful, wonderful people are in my life). On top of that, I have been working out daily and instead of fighting sleep and being online, I have been going to bed when I feel tired. I want to be the best version of me that I can be next week.

Though it's not just the job opportunity that excites. Simply flying there and knowing that I have an afternoon to myself to sight see before the process begins (the calm before the storm) makes me so excited and how could it not? I want to relocate there for a reason so I can't wait to explore my beloved Chicago, if only for an afternoon.

I also have been thinking about what I want to wear for the interviews. If I had it my way, I would wear this recent beautiful look by Kourtney Kardashian which is the cutest thing I have seen in a long time.

But really no, my main concern with my outfit is for me to look polished, professional and nothing that screams 'look at me'. The company I'm interviewing with is as Corporate America as it comes and so I will fit right in with that mold...gladly.

So anyway, that was the reason for my absence and as I will be flying there middle of next week, I will continue to spend my free time studying for the interview as opposed to blogging every day (though a few may sneak in). I want this job, I know I could be successful at it, I want to live there and I want to knock this outta the park Wrigley Field. This interview is a huge step in my career but how much sweeter would it be if I actually landed the job? So please wish me well!

PS - today is my best friend's birthday and I am so grateful to get to spend Friday and Saturday with her. I love her to bits so it will be a wonderful way to cool my jets before I head off into interview-crazed mode.

Excited for a weekend of Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday Megan... and next week - it's to Chicago and Beyond!

Congratulations Caitlin!! I am so happy for you and wish you all the best for your interviews. It sounds that you are perfectly prepared to shine and land the job! Oh, I am really excited!!

A friend of mine from Germany has been to the US several times and he is also totally into Chicago (says its his favourite city in the world). So there must be something about Chicago. I am really curious :)

Again, all the best to you!! Enjoy your weekend, relax a bit and keep us up to date :)

Go Girl!! I'm so excited for you!! If you need anything let me know. I've been an Executive Recruiter for over 10 years. I work with publicly traded firms and Fortune 500 companies at the VP and C-Level almost solely. Sounds like you've got it covered with your Dad's friend, but just in case do not be shy about it.

YAHOOOO!!

ps-it's my second bout with the beginning stages of muffin and it is so NOT RIGHT!
