If Spain beckons...

This is my friend Ian.

{Me, Ian, Megan as seen in our High School Yearkbook friendship ad}

I was pretty good friends with him in high school. He's smart, funny, was always kind of rude in that hilarious way that some people finesse. Ian lived down the street from me, I carpooled to school with him and my best friend Megan and you could often find him hanging out with the two of us everywhere we went yet he would never admit he liked doing it.

{Megan, Ian, Me at a High School Football game}

Due to the fact that Ian used his impressive intelligence to often make fun of us, we always told him light-heartedly that he would have a very successful life but that he would likely be a power executive and never settle down with a girl because he deemed himself too good for all of them. You couldn't ever argue that he wasn't intelligent but it was always a good debate as to whether or not Ian would ever love someone more than he loved his independent life.

After college, Megan and I scooted down south to the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!) together whereas Ian started what would become his neverending world tour. Since we graduated high school in 2002, he has lived in France, Spain, New York City, Thailand, California and currently he lives in Dubai. Inbetween his residences in these places, he travels the world- England, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Hawaii, Sri Lanka, China... Ian has been everywhere and lives a life most can only dream of (he even managed to graduate from college in a respective 4 years).

Though his life today doesn't surprise us, one aspect does. Ian fell in love with his tutor in Spain... and he became the person we never thought he would be. All of his travels since 2006 have included the gorgeous Veronica and we have all witnessed via his pictures Ian's world tour with his stunning Spanish fiancee. His personality has softened too, though his humor has remained, that rude edge has kinda dissipated and whether that is due to seeing the world, his fiancee or a little of both... I don't know. But he lives a fairytale life.

{She's Spanish. He's American. They travel the world. Are madly in love. And are this beautiful.}

As I logged into my computer this week, I opened my email to find this:

I have never been invited to anything in Spain and the prospect of that greatly excites me. Beyond that, I have never been to Spain so merely going sounds amazing. The prospect of visiting him in Spain to witness his wedding and travel with my best friend seems like a dream come true.

So now that's on my mind, how can I make this work???

Cute couple.

Sounds like a great opportunity--maybe you can find some pressing new work clients in Spain that need to be visited or something.
