Sangria & Sun

{Saturday 4/23: Enjoying some Sangria at Cha Taqueria in Portland. Left to Right- Shanin, Kolbi, Tracy, Me}

The only thing I know is that the weekends are my favorite... my favorite. As I get older, I am realizing how much more pissed I get on Mondays. It's just redonkulous that I get to spend two days romping around town without a care in the world and then, come Monday, have to be up, at'em and responsible beginning at 5:30 AM. Say what?!?!?

If there was one resonating thought from this particular weekend it was that friends and long friendships are dire to my life. Yesterday, I was on the mountain skiing with two of my guy friends from college and we had a blast. I was laughing so hard I was crying on the way home. And Saturday, I explored sunny downtown with college friends, high school friends, elementary school friends and work friends. Each person came into my life at a different milestone and their positive contributions to my life are limitless.

These friendships are some of the biggest assets I have in terms of describing my character. Simply put- good people can always maintain long term friendships. Don't walk...Run from those who are unable to hold on to multiple people who were once dear to them. Typically speaking, when you burn all your bridges due to your needless, selfish and hateful acts, you become an island. Any proof of character lies inherently in that. Me? I enjoy the people in my life and my actions surely reflect that.

When I was young, I admired clever people. Now that I am old, I admire kind people.

As I am reading this, all I could think about was my ex bestie...I miss her, but my pride won't let me do anything about that. Yep!

I already know when I get into the "real world" I am gonna hate Mondays too! I hope your week goes fast.

I hate Mondays, but today i'm going out on the river.. I love being in control of my work days, (I work for myself, so thankfully I can take off whenever I want)!

But Mondays aren't all that bad..

HAPPY Monday to you too, Caitlin ;-) And it's awesome that you still have so many freinds left from various milestones in your life... If your theory is true, then all teh remainign friends I have shoudl eb running away from me right this minute lol (I'm no longer friends with any of the people from school - we do keep in touch with a very selected few, but it's not the kind of friendship where you'd see each other often.)

Great post! Isn't there a way that the U.S. could convert to a 4-day work week? I would totally work 4 - 10hr days! :)

I am exactly the same way! I definitely enjoy my weekends! Regardless whether I'm out and about or just spending a quiet time at home. Then you're right Monday comes and I'm thinking where the hell did the past two days go, lol

lol. mondays SUCK ASS. big time! i am all for a 4-day work week. or finding a rich dude that can do all the work and support me while i laze around. FAT CHANCE OF THAT, so i guess i am stuck with an annoying job and stoopid mondays!

p.s. sangria is one of my favorites. so glad that the weather is now warming up and it is socially acceptable to order it again since the season has changed. lol

Long time friends are the BEST. My bests are ones that I've held onto for so many years...through good and bad. It's truly those friends who should be cherished the most!

can I be your friend? You know I'm not too far away from Portland. I would totally fit in with you and your friends, so???

I agree with you 100% :-) I have had friends come and go, but there has always been a great solid group that has stuck there.

It always looks like you have such fun weekends...I'm heading to Portland to hang out next weekend ;-) Hope you had a great Easter!

ugh mondays- i totally agree. i personally think the world would be a more happy, peaceful place if we worked 4 days a week and 3 day weekends were the norm. plus we'd save $ on energy, gas, etc.... just my thought for when i become president. lol...jk! :)

so true. friends are like plants that need to be watered and nurtured in order for them to grow. I really appreciated your insights!

hope you had an amazing Easter Weekend!

The one thing I'm not looking forward to about finding a job: having to get up early (likely)! I already do, but getting up to an alarm is much, much worse.
Also, sangria=summer staple!

I like your thoughts on friendship - it does take work to grow friendships! I think some people don't realize that unfortunately.
