Sangria for Everyone

{Dancing with The Boy}

Every few weeks, my friends and I hit up a Sunday DJ'ing event thrown through my friend Miranda's apparel design team. The parties pretty much embody all that is good about Summer- friends, live music, painfully hot sun and lots to sip on.
{goodness, I'm blonde. And we aren't throwing up reverse peace signs, they're something regarding her work.}

Not to mention, the fashion eye candy is amazing. I don't get a lot of the outfits and I don't like about as many as I love but regardless, they are SO fun to take in- people bust out the color pallettes, the brilliant sunnies... anything they can to see and be seen.
I'm wearing: American Apparel Interlock Asymettrical Dress. Like everything else from AA, I love it.
Though they have live music, undoubtedly, the Bell of the Ball is always the $20.00 Sangria carafes. They pop in your mouth and are rich in flavor... and bite- watch out!
After a few times attending this event, I went off in search of my own Sangria recipe because it's just too yummy.
Party Sangria

Prep Time: 5 minutes | Total Time: 5 minutes

  • 1 Bottle of red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja, Zinfandel, Shiraz)
  • 1 Lemon cut into wedges
  • 1 Orange cut into wedges
  • 1 Lime cut into wedges
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • Splash of orange juice or lemonade
  • 2 Shots of gin or triple sec (optional)
  • 1 Cup of raspberries or strawberries (may use thawed or frozen)
  • 1 Small can of diced pineapples (with juice)
  • 4 Cups ginger ale

Pour wine into a large pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lemon, orange and lime into the wine. Toss in the fruit wedges (leaving out seeds if possible) and pineapple then add sugar, orange juice and gin. Chill overnight. Add ginger ale, berries and ice just before serving. If you'd like to serve right away, use chilled red wine and serve over lots of ice. However, remember that the best Sangrias are chilled around 24 hours in the frig. - allowing the flavors to really marinate into each other.

Now get on sipping (after 5 PM of course...).

One of my goals for this summer was to learn how to make a good sangria and this recipe sounds perfect! I will most certainly be trying this out, thanks for sharing!

I've been sober over 22 years but that sounds like a good sangria recipe. When I drank I did like fine wines, gin & tonic, and too many other drinks too. I drank too much. I remember having a couple of sangria hangovers too. Oh well. Nice recipe but I'd better pass on it. I have enough self-will-run-riot being sober.

P.S. And yes, I would love to see more pics of this DIY necklace of yours from a few posts back!! And as for my survey, it has been taken by people from 25 countries... You can see the respondents being broken down by both age and country of residence here, if you're curious:

I love you as a blonde so much! And I have to say, your guy looks good with scruff.. I'm becoming partial to Kris with scruff then without these days to and I was never one for facial hair. And now you have made me crave some peach sangria!!
