Save Suri!

This post needs a preface: I love children a lot. I started helping out with my little Brother when I was 6, I babysat as soon as I could and I worked in a daycare during college. I could play with wittle ones (break out the baby talk) for hours. I love them.

And yes, Suri Cruise is no exception. She has luminous, youthful beauty and is pretty much as cute as any button I've ever seen. She's stunning.

But...

What are the odds that this girl won't grow up to become the snobbiest, most materialistic girl on the face of the planet? Heels at age 3? Couture gowns at the local park?

Katie, is she ever allowed to wear pants like a normal little girl or head off into the world looking like a child and not a product of your ever-persistent stylist. Geez-louise, I promise everyone will still think she's cute.

I think there's a lot to be said about letting kids be kids. Letting them get dirty. Letting them play dress-up, not pushing labels on them so young. They'll discover them on their own at the right time. Just my 2 cents.

So in the words of Forrest Gump, "that's all I have to say about that".

Amen! You said it perfectly. Honestly, what is there to look forward to? She is a KID not a doll. Geez!

I love that kid. I read that she loves wearing heels, but damn who's the parent? A 5 year old shouldn't have bunions.

Aside from that I'll confess: I've always wanted to be bff with her.

Isn't she just such a doll? Sometimes I just don't wanna see her looking all dolled up, I wanna see her as a kid, dirty, messy, in sneakers, and having fun.

she is such a cutie pie, but i totally agree with you on kids and labels...just too much!!!

I know it's sad, seeing as how I'm in Grad School and all, but I honestly want to raid Suri's closet. Does she not have the most amazing style? :)

This girl should donate her unneccessary closet and feed a small country. It's ridiculous!

Aside from the money being spent, you are 100% right. She is beind deprived of her youth. People such as Perez Hilton idolize her parents and how they dress her. People like that do nothing but instigate them further. Sigh... How do you play leap from in a dress and heels?

Totally, totally agree with you! Kids should be allowed to be kids, no matter how much money their parents have!

You make a good point. I guess I'm convincing myself that she just wants to be suuuuper girly and it's not forced. The photo with the coffee cup just cracks me up - such a little lady. Actually, I she dresses better than Katie so who's running that show??

Suri is THE cutest kid I have ever seen. I agree, it's really odd that she wears these grown up clothes, unless it's her who wants to wear them, then would it be commendable that the parents let her "be her"? Or should they be more strict about heels with a 5 year old? I'm not sure .... but interesting post!

this reminds me of toddlers and tiaras, i have never seen the show, but i've seen photos from magazines. katie used to be just the girl next door and she was awesome because of that. i cannot believe that she would allow her little girl to be this way. suri is so different from jennifer garner's and ben affleck's daughter, violet - who dresses like her age. cute clothes but could be a sad ending.

You said this perfectly. She is going to be the spoilest kid ever and be old at such a young age.

So not okay. Little girls need to be like, covered in dirt and stains and stuff. NOT high heels. So not okay!

Question...have you read Suri's Burn Book? It's priceless!

Oh I know! I worry about some of these celeb kids.

Suri's parents "claim" that she chooses everything for herself and even dresses Katie (on her better days, obvio!)

IF I had a little girl (I have a boy), I would just be really uncomfortable letting her be act grown up. I wouldn't want her to be 35 and be like, "Gee, I never had a childhood!"

Jaime @ La vie...J'aime said...

i don't know why i even care but the fact that they let her wear high hels makes me sick lol

and that's all i have to say about that!

that being said, you must read suri's burn book...tumblr blog. HILARIOUS.

I'm most bother about the heels... But I guess only time will show what all of the above will lead to. Let's wait and see and let's be glad she's not a relative of ours lol

it's so sad the life of these children... they grow up to be people who don't appreciate anything and think the world own them something...

Its ridic, & I kinda get sad when I see her in glossies, she's how old & wearing heels? At 24, I still can't wear heels...My little cousin, kinda looks like her, & is 7 years old now, she had some strappy heels on at my neph's birthday party, I am like WTF?

completely agreed. but in defense of suri. my niece, whos 3, would wear all the above clothes, as well as pick them out and put them together herself. however, i hope she doesn't turn out awful. Im thinking Suri for president.
