every sick person just wants their Mom

There's so many times that I wish I were a child again. More often than not, that is generally due to the fact that it is sunny outside and I am sitting at my desk bittersweetly reminiscing about my young self's strenuous agenda of secret society meetings, Wall Ball (did you play that too? Oh game on Sistah!) and competitive Aladdin song-singing. That was the big stress in my life- trying to best my best friend Shanin in the Genie's baritone or by merely knowing more of the lyrics than her. Rough life...

But the one circumstance that instantly tops the sunny day for the "I wish I were a kid again..." game is the dreaded "I'm at work and sick day". You know that feeling where you're not definitively sick yet but you know it's coming? As a young spry, I could tell my parents this and expect to be waited on all day by my Mom who made me feel like the little Princess I wasn't. I can still feel her warm hand on my forehead while she checked my temp and simultaneously nestled me in with more blankets and tea. The day was also usually capped off with the reward of popiscles and an Archie comic book from my Dad when he got home from work. It was euphoria, I have yet to find a so-called chic Spa that can top that treatment!

So today, when I sat at my desk and noted the familiar feeling of body aches, sore throat and chills, I began to curse my adulthood responsibilities. I just wanted to be home... in 1992...

All jokes aside, as soon as the clock struck 4:30 (my quittin' time), I rushed to my abode and began to recreate the next best thing to having my Mom there waiting on me hand and foot- her signature sick day necessities:
{^this would have undoubtedly been Ginger Ale, except I didn't want to go to the store and we had this in the fridge. But Ginger Ale/Sprite/Squirt over ice on a sick day... hamada-hamada. And I call everything in this family "Pop"... NOT "Soda". There's some regional trivia for your next dinner party... you are welcome}

{^the sick day soup ALWAYS made by my Mom: Orzo in Chicken Broth w/ a pinch of salt. Simple and perfect. Mangiamo! }

{^And what's a sick day without the latest periodical and a feel good movie? Not shown: I watched "Big" tonight. Tom Hanks 80s/90s film... perfecto pick if I do say so myself. Especially because it's also about an adult who realizes the value of his childhood... after he gets laid of course. }
So thank you Mom and Dad
for always making my youthful healing process so blissful that nothing will ever live up to it again. How rude! ;)

Oh and little Miss Sarmin- thank you for making my day with my Giveaway gift arriving in the mail!

{^MAC Fluidline Gel Eyeliner & a gnarly snake bangle - ps your handwriting is so cool! }

So after Sarmin's spectacular package in the mail and a little throw-back to my youth with Mom & Dad approved sick day remedies, I'm hoping to feel a bit better tomorrow and back on my feet! Or, I'll get some serious ailment that will help me lose weight. I mean, I was so lucky getting Mono, that was like the best diet ever (1:50 mark).

Happy Tuesday! :)

Feel better soon! I want most of those things when I'm sick too, plus the remote, and then to be left alone by everyone until I feel human again.

When you were little and had the slightest sniffles, you were ordered back to bed.. Now I spend an hour debating myself on wether or not I'm sick enough to take a day off work, I always decide NO make it through a day feeling worse ad worse as it goes on and had to tale the following one off anyway.. That's what I miss, guilt free headcolds and runny noses!

Your chicken soup looks so yummy, but if you're sick, my mommy has a super secret recipe. Squeeze in half a lemon and then poor the PIPING hot soup over an egg for protein. If you poor it properly, the egg will cook without looking like an egg. It just makes the broth thicker. It's delicious and will make you feel better by tomorrow. Guaranteed!

I definitely agree that being sick as an adult just sucks. Especially when you feel like total crap, but aren't sick enough to actually need a sick day. That was my Thursday and Friday last week. One thing that I think helped me was taking a long, hot bath each night. Maybe try that in addition to all of your Mom's remedies to knock the bug out. Feel better soon dear!!

Awww...get well soon, Caitlin! I too always used to turn to Squirt as a child whenever I was sick; and that soup looks scrummy! Sending sparkly vibes and good health your way! :)

Drink plenty of fluids, eat green veggies, take vitamin C, keep warm, and get plenty of sleep. I know that feeling all too well of wanting my mommy. She let us have a mix of ginger ale and orange juice and the thermometer was out to read our temperature. Now I'm supposed to be my own mommy?
Get well soon!

Oh honey, I hope you feel better soon. Being sick is just horrible! My dad has these weird Bangali remedies that he tells me to do, when all I wanna do is just drink Nyquil & go to sleep.

& I am so glad you finally got your things. You should totally do post on how to do wing eyeliners...My fluidline is like 1/2 gone, & I can't still do a perfect wing eye look. Boo!
