Planes, Trains & Snowmobiles

Spring is just around the corner! Less than 20 days to go until it officially kicks-off. Yay for sundresses, wedges and bandeau tops and day drinking! Nevermind the fact that this morning I had to scrape snow off my windshield. SNOW. In March. Sometimes the level of bipolar that Mother Nature: Portland Version reaches is reallllllly something else... it's as if she's forever Monsterating.

So though I don't like being blindsided by random snowfalls downtown on a random Tuesday when I'm gearing up for warm weather, I DO appreciate that in Oregon- if we DECIDE we want the snow- and I mean good, solid, mountain snow- it is never more than a car ride away.

A few weeks ago I spent a long weekend with my family in Sunriver Resort. It's in Central Oregon (which I blog about quite a bit for a reason. It's about 3 hours from Portland and severely popular for getaways year-round) where life is all about recreation by day and wine, hot tubs and fireplaces by night. When we do decide to break away from the cozy cabin, usually we head to neighboring Mt. Bachelor for Skiing & Snowboarding. However this year my Dad actually decided to take us all snowmobiling.

{^My Brother -Conor- and I SPY...Me- taking this picture is a tradition for us when we Ski. }

{^And then there's my Sister... who gets so tired of my camera that sometimes she just gives up. Loser! }

{^Mt. Bachelor on a Snowmobiling break - she's a beaut', ain't she Clark? }

{^My Cousin and Brother-in-Law mantesting themselves }

{^Let's get ready to RUMBLLLLLEEEE }

{^ The Boy and I play Power Rangers}

{^the whole fam-damily }

{^Vroom }

{^Our Chariots }

{^This girl also sometimes Blogs about stupid things like ponytails }

{^Oh Winter, I'm excited for you to leave but I also love to watch you go. }

We all had our own Snowmobiles with the exception of my Brother who is not yet 25, so technically he couldn't "rent" one of his own. However, we mitigated that by my Dad, Stepmom and Brother taking turns riding tandem. AKA my Dad and Stepmom were on the same one most of the time while my Brother acted like a genuine college student moron and proceeded to crash and incur damages on two of the machines- which as you can imagine, my Dad was just thrilled about.

No sooner than we left for the day, we passed this accident on the slippery road leading back to the resort. Thankfully, no one was hurt- but it did make for some nice jokes about "Who let Conor park the car?!!"

{^Someone's got a case of the Mondays }

The day was stupidly awesome. You rip through trails and woods like a Bat out of Hell going about 40 miles per hour, adrenaline pumping and views as far as the eye can see. We all had a blast and definitely can't wait to go again. Though next time I'm making sure everyone has brighter colors on- hard to see some in their winter white jackets- gotta rock the bright patterns like my Dad, Brother and Me.

Do you have the ability to get to this kinda snow in your neck of the woods? Do tell!

Looks like you had a BLAST. I would LOVE to snow mobile. And it snows in the mountains in So Cal but it is nothing like the PNW!! I'll take my sunshine and beaches any day ;)

I do not! I would probably have to go to Vermont or something about 6-8 hours away. I've never gone skiing, snowboarding, or snow anything before! That's ok, because I don't really like the snow. hahaha

We didn't have a Winter here. You would think that NY is becoming the new Florida with the spring like winter we had. :)

Love the pictures. You guys look awesome and like you had a very nice time. Glad that wasn't really your brother that crashed the car!

We never get snow like that! I am so jealous, that looks sooooo much fun! I used to ride dirtbikes, so thats my equivalent to your snowmobiling lol :)

Ummm...can I just say that you have the cutest snow gear? Pink plaid boots. Colorful polka dotted parka. Pink lips. You are the epitome of a snow bunny. LOVE! :)

You are so cute...Love the "Are you ready to Rumble?" picture. Just looking at this snow makes my fingers and toes go numb; I would not (and do not) do well in cold temperatures. It's 50 degrees here right now and I am FREEZING! Please talk more about the sun, warm weather, and day drinking...Please! :) But I do bet that this was a lot of fun; what a neat family tradition.

This terrifies me! I think not growing up with snow around is the culprit.
