Mad for Plaid. Egad.

I must admit I'm a sucker for a trendsetting girl. When there's a lead lady who's willing to impart crazy looks upon the land, I'm more than willing to listen. And because I've always prided myself on being 100% anti-Hipster, it's not that big of a deal to me when I know that a bunch of other girls will be trying the same looks out as well. Meh... I'll give it a whirl too. Oh hey 15-year-old at the Supermarket: TWINSIES!

So when stills of Sex & the Sh*tty City 2 started making the rounds, I began mentally cataloging any and all interpretations I could try.

Enter Carrie:

{^Is there an echo in the room?! [SJP IMAGE VIA]}
Denim, Midriff, Heels and a cropped-plaid button-up. Easy enough.

Here comes the copycat!

{^Playing with my Puppy in my F21 Plaid shirt, American Apparel black skirt and Madden Girl buckles.}

{^I personally only like the midriff slip with no belly-button showing (like I did HERE). This right here is too much skin considering I'm not in 90+ weather}

{^The outfit: bad. Playing with my Dog: Good.}

While I'm not embarrassed of it, I think it's pretty uninspired and overly fleeting. The shoes are trendy, the top is trendy and the midriff-baring is trendy. Too much of everything!!! I would say this was an unsuccessful mimicking. And thankfully, I just wore it to the Farmer's Market and on a walk with The Boy.

{^My train of thought is there... but it just didn't work [SJP IMAGE VIA]}
Can't win 'em all! Have you ever tried to copy a star's outfit to no avail?

It's a long time since I tried to copy an outfit I saw on a celeb.. infact I think it was the late 90's and I insisted on wearing platform sneakers with baby doll dresses everywhere so I could look like Emma Bunton aka Baby Spice.

I love the plaid top! The problem with Carrie is she wears stuff that looks amazing in the show but a bit too out there for every day life :(

That was actually one of my favorite Carrie looks ever! I literally used it as inspiration all summer last year - but with cuffed white denim skinnies, nude wedge platforms, and a denim tie-waist crop. The effect was adorbs - as is yours! :)

This was one of my favorite looks of Carrie's, but I think you definitely made it look so much cuter! xo

I frequently try and replicate looks - usually looks I see in magazines. I often tear out a page to try the look later but when I get around to it I find I'm missing a piece or the piece I thought would work was a disaster. You're not alone! Although you pull this look off pretty well - I certainly couldn't!

I think you did a great job recreating Carrie's outfit, and the bare midriff is definitely not the easiest piece to pull off. I haven't really tried to do something similar...but maybe I should. My fav SATC character's style is Charlotte...I am sure that doesn't surprise you....

HAHAHA!! you look cute in it! there was a time in my life where the flannel plaids were in style in senior year in HS towards college and i swore that i would never, ever wear plaids again! well, i have a 4 pieces, to be exact, and they're not that bad. i think i'm slowly getting over that horrendous time period where plaid made me hurl! LOL

I think I emulate celebs looks all of the time (if I pull it off or not is a whole other story). I wish I could pull off Nicole Richie's boho look and head wraps. I feel like a FOOL when I wear turbans and headwraps and always end up feeling like a big fat fail!.

You are brave with the midriff my friend! I have never tried that :)

Ha, I like what the girl above me wrote. If I had a flat tummy, like yourself, your other outfit (the purple w/black skirt) would be me everyday. & of course I like to channel my inner Kim K when I have a blazer on along with over the knee boots...(But really, I wish I could dress like Nicole Richie, with Kim's body, with my height.)
