dirt on them kicks

My friends and I have always had a long-standing joke that everyone's "About Me" ANYTHING includes the tidbit "Interests: Hiking". You name it: online dating profile, Facebook, Work Bio... everyone apparently is a Hiking lifer- myself very much included.

Let me be clear: I do love to Hike. In Oregon (editor's note: Please know that it's pronounced "OR-EH-GEN" not "ORY-GONE"- I promise!), I would have a harder time finding a store bagging groceries with plastic bags than I would finding a place to hike: trails are everywhere! And I do love to explore them. But am I up at the crack of dawn every Saturday putting on my hiking boots and trekking up the tallest mountain I can find? Far from it. I'm sitting on my couch like a f*tass, sipping coffee and monologuing my boyfriend about my diet.

So, when someone else suggests a weekend hike-like Juan-, I'm more than happy to break my normal stride and head to the trails! If for no other reason than to validate all of my "About Mes".
We chose spec-tac-u-lar Cape Lookout on the Oregon Coast for our Hike.
How's that for a Saturday view?
Mating Caterpillars: When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie that's a'more...
Hello Pacific Ocean!
We sat in silence and took in the view. Which was great for both of us considering we always want the other one to shut up.
Little Windy, lotta sap!
Yours Truly.
Wait til' you see my kicks (the whisper song)
The peak of the hike: Cape Lookout
In shoe world, I think this is considered living the good life.
Buddies.
It is rarely lost on me how fortunate I am to live in an ocean-bordered state.
Watch your step! Juan had the brilliant idea to suggest we trek down there. I think he was trying to kill me.
Weathering the wind and sun- like, omg, my life is so hard, right? ;)
The aftermath. Thanks Guys.
What an idiot.
Oh PS this is an outfit post: XL grey t-shirt topped off with loose grey henley and ratty hiking hair: you're welcome for this inspiration.
So I think this means I can officially continue to use "Hiking" as an active interest for the next 12 months. Quota filled!

Are you a true-blue Hiker?

What an amazing view!! And those shoes at the end... I would say def shows it was a great hike!
I am not much of a "hiker" in the true sense of the word... we like to get out and explore nature trails, but we don't have the fabulous mountains to hike that you do. Other than my favorite Sand Dune with steps, I don't really get out hiking much in the summer either, bc it is too hot!
Hope you have a great rest of your week!

So I am totally thinking about peeps about me's and I swear that must be an Oregon thing because I hardly see hiking. BUT I think it is an activity that people wish they did more. I know I have been trying it more lately!

Anyways...that hike looked incredible, the view was insane and you look adorable. Your shoes definitely look like they had fun :)

It is never lost on me that I have beach views. It is my one thing I thank God for all of the time (besides fam and friends obvi).

Lol! So true, profiles on plentyoffish.com everyone says they are a hiker. I wanna go hiking, nothing to major, never been before, so baby steps. The first step would be to get proper shoes, yup.

& can Oregon get any prettier, seriously?

PS: I love the fact that your eyes are done for a hiking trip, I would do the same thing.

I basically LOVE that picture of the muddy shoes - it is perfection. Honestly, I'm not much of a hiker myself. I workout all the time indoors, but I never really hit the outside world. Nevertheless, the views offered with hiking are stunning - I definitely need to give it a try sometime!

P.S. Your comment yesterday = love. I am so obsessive about my nails, it's not even funny. I literally feel undressed if I don't have nail polish on. :P

gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I love how you told people the correct pronunciation of Oregon. It drives my nuts when they pronounce it wrong. kinda like when people say "WARSH-ington."

egads.

I'm not a hiker, but have done it. The only reason I don't dig it, is because I have to look down the whole time to not trip fall, die, etc. and I miss all the gorgeous scenery. hm clumsy me,,..

Gorgeous!

I love to hike, but don't do it often enough. We actually went this past weekend on a short hike and it was wonderful.

I love hiking later in the summer when it's really warm and you can swim in the alpine lakes. There is a great hike around here that takes you to some natural waterslides - really smooth rocks that you can slide down into gorgeous blue-green pools of cool water. So fun!

holy shit! i vacationed in your fair state a couple of summers ago. and the hiking was incredible!!!! so green! so many treees! trails GALORE!!!! beaches! the works!

note: i am lazy and i prefer hiking without many hills/mountains. LOL. yes, i am being serious. all that climbing and uphill nonsense is rawther taxing.

I've never been hiking. The closest thing we have to hiking around here is "hiking" up 5th ave. hahahaha

I'm so jealous that you get to do it though! Seems like a great workout and bonding experience with your friend. Not to mention the amazing view you have! That catepillar is adorable too!! Talk about dirty kicks though... hahahahha

What a gorgeous place, I'm stunned! I want to go hiking now, but I'm stuck behind my desk...

And I only wish I lived in Australia, like you thought. I live in rainy Belgium, where winters are like summer, and during summer it starts to snow. Weirdo land I say. So it actually is a little bit like Australia over here after all!

Wow pretty views.. It's so true though I see so many people list hiking as a hobby (?) but I do t know anyone who ever actually does it.. I don't think I have since yr 9 survival camp where we spent 6 days with packs on our backs, sleeping in tents and weeing in the woods.. Hello worst week of my life!
You definitely earned the right to list it as one of your interests though, maybe the first person I know of who can!

I too love hiking, although seldom find the time for it, especially as the weather where I live can be pretty crazy. In the summertime sometimes I will go for a long walk which is always nice.

Loving the view, and the comments about your shoes!
