Fashion In My Own Backyard

I think that one of the best things about my entrance into the Blogosphere is that it really helped to take some of the power away from Celebrities who get increasingly annoying (Not you Britney). The endless parade of what stupid J.Lo is wearing or how Leann Rimes is 'so skinny' often tires me because they are just nevvvverreendinggg obsessed with themselves (and also bc Leann Rimes is revolting). So yes, I understand they have ample time, resources and help to look the way they do and it makes me think much less of their success. I don't always feel this way... and there are some celebs whom I unconditionally worship- but my general feeling when push comes to shove is that 80% of them bug the sh*t out of me.
^My girlfriends' and my shoes: I'm in the pink heel.

In contrast, Bloggers (for the most part) have jobs, real lives, bad days and goals which can be reflected in my own life. I love seeing what they're wearing, what they're doing today, how they make their dinner-because it's something I can mimic in my own, normal, chauffeur-free life: real girls who find ways to be fabulous. I love that. And it has helped me to see it more and more in the company I keep- my friends are some fashionable ladies and I'm more and more impressed with how they choose to outfit themselves.

Especially at our very favorite Summer soiree that I wrote about last summer HERE, HERE and HERE AND which we hit up for the first time in Summer 2012 last weekend:
Ah- really, all this post does is make me want to spend my days dressed-up,  jamming to beats. Blah, blah, blah... 4 days until Friday! :)

Gosh, love the photos! Especially the first two, the 2ND one is so Tumblr-ish. Lol at the 'weapon bracelets', they are cute, I wants. Fedora girl, I want her bag...Real people have more style then any celeb, 90% of them have stylist (real people-ish) style them. When I see photo of the Kardashians wearing something I like, I think about Monica, their stylist.

PS: IN LOVE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY!

I completely agree. It is way more fun reading about real, relatable people. You have some fashionable friends. If you ever get sick of those bracelets you can sen them my way ;)

Your pictures are amazing, as always. And I'm counting down to the weekend already, too.

I absolutely love this post, Caitlin - the pictures are perfection! Gah! That sangria looks incredible - I love pretty drinks. And your pink pumps...I want! I literally had the urge to shout "Girl power!" when I saw the picture of you and your friends shoes/feet - it's the 9-year-old Spice Girl lover in me. :P

Love the caption underneath the pictures. I love how you said " I don't these people but the girl in the fedora looks amazing" made me laugh. Yes I also get tired of seeing what other celebrities are wearing.

When it comes to fashion sense the cat is dense, but yeah parties are fine and 99% of celebrities are full of crap.

I knew yours were the pink heels! :) And I can't believe your bracelets were considered a weapon...Wow. I have never had sangria (Gasp, I know!) but your picture of it makes me want to try some. Maybe this weekend since I think it's going to turn into a lake weekend! Now to figure out how to make it... :-/

I don't read tabloid magazines, in my opinion I like to remember the celebrities the way I like to. These are great photos and everyone looks like they're having so much fun. This is a really slow week...I was convinced the clock stopped moving at 3pm yesterday :(
