On Consumption

^Our friend Lindsey brought over some yummy bread. We all lapped it up drenched in seasoned, rosemary olive oil.  (Thanks Linds).
^Oregon has great beer... but I gotta send major props down to 21st Amendment brewery in San Francisco. The "Hell or High Watermelon" ale might just be the very best I've ever had.

^Oysters with Lemon juice... oh be still my heart.

^Gearing up for the Starlight Parade with some Rogue Ale.
 ^Mimosas adorned with Strawberries. Delightful.

^Ripe Strawberries with some Seltzer Water. Oh yummy.

^Milagro Tequila and Lime Wedges. It's a celebration.

^Various ales at the Zoo Brew (iPhone pic)

^I made homemade Iced Tea! Bought the oversized Mason Jar at the local food co-op for 3 dollars. And even am growing some Spearmint to boot. Yum, yum, yum!

Sunday morning, The Boy and I were doing the usual cleaning after weekend antics. As I gathered up our recycling (we are DIE HARD recyclers), I started to note just how much we consumed in a single weekend. During the weekdays, I pretty much eat this on repeat: grapefruit for breakfast, rice cake w/ peanut butter for snack, veggies & hummus for lunch and tofu noodles w/ chicken & soy sauce for dinner. That's really all I consume (+ water!). But the weekends are a very different tale, as evidenced by our recycling bin overflowing with wine bottles, espresso canisters and take-out carriers. We like to enjoy ourselves from Friday night- Sunday evening and I don't plan on ever having that change.

How about you- do your eating habits change from Weekdays to Weekends?

Well you can tell it is a monday morning when I read the title as On Constipation rather than Consumption..LMAO

Anyway, I had the same diet for 17 years whether weekend or weekday, same thing in and out. Now I eat whatever I please, healthy most cases though.

The Mimosas are so pretty; but my favorite is, hands down, the Iced Tea in Mason Jars - ohmigosh what a charming drink! :)

The bread in the first photo that your friend Lindsey brought over does look yummy - more yummy than the loaves I used to use to make garlic-bread. I;m still an ovo-lacto vegetarian but I follow so many vegans that I start feeling a little guilty about the garlic bread with mozzarella, or cheese lettuce and tomato sandwiches. I'll have t try some bread with rosemary seasoned olive oil. It's been ages since I bought grapefruit too. I should look around for that grapefruit knife. It's around here somewhere. I used to have grapefruit spoons too. The rice cake with peanut butter, veggies and hummus and tofu noodles sound good.
No, I'm afraid my eating habits don't change much between weekdays and the weekends but they've changed for the worse since childhood. I grew up eating at very specific times, three meals a day and no snacks. Since then I've become very disorganized about eating and eat too much, way too often, not on any schedule, and based more on whims than on what I should eat (too much tasty pre-packaged vegetarian frozen meals handy to microwave).

Thank you for your comment (blushing). I'm still more involved in fantasy than in actually doing things. I need a strong woman to give me a push in the right direction once in a while (Judy Tenuta: "It could happen"). Unlikely.

I like your pics.

Oh, we definitely change our nutritional habits on the weekends! Especially if it's a lake weekend, because there's just something about being on the lake with a cold drink in hand. It looks like you had a great weekend, which you totally deserved after what sounded like a crazy work week! But I am a little sad that there wasn't a picture posted of someone wearing the beer goggle glasses. :)

That bread looks amazing..I swear I was italian in my past life. I love pasta and bread more so than rice. I think my eating habits are pretty much the same during the weekday through the weekend.

1. that all sounds delicious and I'm very seriously thinking of planning a trip there just for the food!
2. On the weekends I tend to drive and eat more lavishly as well. Although I always try to watch what I'm eating...alot easier to do over the week tho!! :)
Do you find that summer the days all mix together? It's so easy to go out for a beer after work in the summer than the winter!

i'm the same way...

weekdays, it's a soy latte & granola bar for breakfast, juice for lunch (or smoothie or small salad) and some kind of easy small plate for dinner.

but weekends i take pleasure in tasty foods and lots of alcohol.

loving the SF shout out. we do have some good beer.

it depends! during the weekdays, i consume more tofu, meat alternative products, fish, sushi and such. on the weekends, i can eat the same stuff, depending on the company. though i always love a good burger or something beef on the weekends - it's what's for dinner! LOL

My weeksnds (SG not Charlie's) are mostly covered with alcohol, pizza and ice cream. The rest of the week is usually a mixture of carbs and cholesterol.

I love 21st watermellon beer too! I used to work right down the street from that brewery in SF a few years ago and we would go there a lot and drink it on tap! YUM! They put a slice of watermelon for garnish on the pint:)

Your consumption makes me happy.

I just found your blog through your comment on Raven's blog! I tried the watermelon ale when I was in SF for Bay to Breakers. Really different but also really nice and refreshing. The steak quesadilla at 21st amendment was out of this world... We are still talking about it. :)
