Life, liberty and the pursuit of Happiness

Every day I read a multitude of articles about various visceral topics: Some speak out with authority against the policies of current and/or past Presidents and some merely rant about the fact that they think our world issues could be solved if people listened to Mozart in utero. Or sometimes I just watch videos of Hamsters on skateboards.
^Dat's me.
But thankfully; I live in a place where none of the above is censored. Where dissent or agreement is as commonplace as breathing and wholly valued

Even if the rest of the world thinks of us as gun-toting, 300lb, McDonald's eating Walmart shoppers... I love my home. And I love the fact that I can be myself in it.

Happy 4th of July to all my domestic friends... and happy Wednesday to all of you abroad :)

[I timed this post as I'm out of town celebrating the Holiday, I will be back next week!]

As an Aussie who loves the US I know you're not all like that, just the majority.. I kid but really it's a wonderful place to visit and I think we all take our western freedoms for granted at times and it's nice to reflect on it all and appreciate what it took to get us to this point. Happy Independance Day!!

Sadly I didn't make it to te US for the big day but I did wear a US flag tee, play my ' America' playlist and watche the Disneyland 4th July fireworks on YouTube!!

PERFECT post title for today and great attitude! "...unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." (Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776). Katy Perry will be performing her song "Firework" on NBC (East Coast) at 9 PM EDT during the Macy's fireworks show. I'm so glad you chose liberty for your subject this 4th of July rather than blind patriotism which can be had even in the most despotic of regimes. We need more liberty and less censorship. There's more censorship here than you might realize, i.e.: Facebook censoring art - article by jennifer nix in the Huffington Post. It happens all the time.

Have a wonderful and happy 4th of July and enjoy "the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air" (Star Spangled Banner lyrics written by Francis Scott Key in 1814 during the War of 1812 and set to the tune of a British song To Anacreon in Heaven. Oddly, "My Country 'Tis of Thee" who's lyrics were written by Samuel Francis Smith used the melody from the British national anthem, "God Save the Queen" - And we got the statue of liberty from the French. Hmmm.

Happy 4th of July in the spirit of liberty. It's good to remember that liberty is what it's supposed to be about. Enjoy!

I love that I can say I hate most off the Republican party, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Jan Brewer, & Russell Pearce. & also think that the last three, they can jump off the Grand Canyon w/o me being stoned, or killed. Love America!

Happy (belated) 4TH!

Happy 4th to you Miss Caitlin.

We in the States certainly do conjure up specific images for those around the world.

I hope you got to see a great fireworks show there in the big city.

Hamsters on skateboards is my kind of video :) lol You make a valid point...I'm very proud to be an American, and the fact that we are free in so many different ways is one of the many reasons why. Hope you enjoyed your fourth!!
