Captured Happiness

Do you ever stumble on a picture that gives you pause and makes you think about some of the good in life? I stumbled on this picture on my phone taken in August 2012 and a few moments later, I discovered that it brought a lot of emotions to the surface for me.

The best stories of my Youth usually include one of these two in some way or another. They were a huggggge, ginormous part of my life- and I love finding a happy picture that commemorates that.

Because honestly: The joy in breaking your Parents' rules, kissing boys at Camp, using a roasted chicken skeleton in your TP'ing efforts, taking your first sip of alcohol, passing note through class, gallivanting with Sailors, eating as many Marshmallows as you can stuff in your mouth, creating fake movies that you film in your Garage, celebrating your Driver's License with a trip to McDonald's at 9 AM, sneaking out of the house and heading to the beach at 3 AM, subsequently getting Grounded simultaneously by your Parents, etc. etc. etc. etc.- is a dish best served with the best of friends.

Here's to the ones who shaped your past- there will always be a part of them that carries forward to the future ♥

Sounds like those were the good ol' days! And like you have some stories that need to be given their very own blog post (roasted chicken skeletons and gallivanting with sailors??)!
Best friends certainly are the best part to the best stories. It sounds like you have quite a lot of great memories with these gals!

Haha the good old Macca's run the minute you get your license! Happy to see you guys do it to. Loved reading your list of good times, reminds me a lot of me and my high school bestie!

I absolutely love you for this, Caitlin! You've made me want to plan a girls weekend with my besties to commemorate all of the years of adventure I've shared with them! :)

Wow. I have to really strain my brain to reach that far back in time, but there are some interesting memories there. Being grounded and sneaking out the window, over the roof and down a trellis - but I'm having trouble remembering where I went. Skateboarding down a hill in the sixties, having some old geezer in a car yelling at me to get off the road and freaking out when I boarded over and hung on to his drivers window to discuss it with him. Turning 18, downing over half a quart if vodka and getting indescribably sick. Climbing a tree to pick cherries. I think your stories of youth are more fun than mine. I spent a lot of time alone back then. I had most of my suppressed youth in my mid to late 20's.

Oh yes, such trouble is all the better with good friends by your side. Plus you can blame them haha but then you get the old if they jumped off a bridge, would you too? line.

Roasted chicken skeleton for Tp'ing? I am thinking you would not be the friend to play a practical joke on as the revenge would be painful.

Glad you survived the Early morning sand play.

There is nothing better than stumbling across an old picture. Even if there's nothing in it any one else might notice, it will bring you right back to that time. Just a couple of weeks ago I was sorting through some old pictures and reliving a bunch of stuff! Ah, memory lane!
