Prasad: simply tasteful

The last few weekends, I've traded a Saturday afternoon Beer for a Wheatgrass concoction and "Lazy Sundays"for jogs in the park: Wellness is my game plan for this month, which also made it the perfect time to try out a Vegan eatery that has earned RAVE reviews since its conception. Prasad is located in The Pearl District (Portland's 'high-end' part of town) and shares its space with a Yoga studio, creating the perfect aura of mind, body & soul. I'm still a Carnivore (primarily because if I became totally Vegetarian-I would in turn just become a Carbatarian); but I love to eat Vegan and Vegetarian when I can- especially when it's at a place only blocks down from my stomping grounds.
Outside Prasad last weekend.
I ordered the Chili Bowl: Rice, roasted garlic chili, steamed greens, avocado, scallions, cilantro, green chili and garlic tahini sauces
Enjoying my meal in every sense of the word.
They will feed anyone in need- see under the description for "The Mighty Bowl". I love that.
Zen.
The Boy's Wellness Shot: ginger juice, lemon, cayenne & echinacea
My Chili Bowl with hot Ginger tea. The perfect meal-cap after that vibrant bowl of food.
Prasad- in the words of Miley Cyrus- When can I see you again?!
There was seriously so much on the menu and I was creepily looking at other patrons' dishes to determine what I'm going to order on my next visit. Safe to say: I loved it. And I can't wait to saunter down there again another weekend and try some more of their delicious food and drink their exquisite homemade tea. Even my "No meal is good without Meat" Boyfriend practically licked his plate clean- and the remaining left in mine to boot!

Delectable food with a conscience: well done, Prasad.

When I was heavier, people were often surprised I was a vegetarian.. but I'm totally a carbavore.. as I had to point out - there's no meat in cheese pizza, pasta or fries and those are my 3 main food groups!

Looks like such a lovely place to dine.. I'm always happy when meat-eaters enjoy veggo food!

LOOKS delish! I would love to try a place like that. Since on my weight loss journey, I have cut out a lot of meats and upped my veggies. I am always looking for something new and fun to try!. If I am ever up your way I will def try it out!

Very interesting place indeed! And how cool that they offer "The Mighty Bowl"! That is so great of them; I love it! And your chili bowl looks so good, especially to not be what I know as chili that is chock full of meat!! Keep sharing all these cool places. Eventually when we venture out of the southeast I want to have good suggestions of places to go.

First off, that place looks really really good. And reminds me of the latest episode of Portlandia haha.

Second, so I am FINALLY going to Portland at the end of Feburary, we will only be out there one night, 2 days so I wanted to ask you what are all the MUST SEE places to see, eat, shop, visit in Portland on such a short visit? And if you could recommend a good place to stay that's not overly expensive in a good part of town as well as a great bookstore I'll be forever in your debt...

I'm jealous! That food looks so yummy it makes me want to take the long taxi and cross-country airline flight so I could get a room as close as possible to that restaurant and pig out on it all. How could you possibly keep eating meat with such scrumptious vegan and vegetarian eats available? I want at least one of each of those salads and bowls on the menu. Is there any way to order order it in from over 3,000 miles away? If I visit I may try to move right into Prasad. Ooh... Zuchini noodles with sun-dried tomato pesto (slurp!) OMG EVERYTHING on that menu looks delicious, and "fresh, organic, healthy, gluten free vegan" too! I see its their 3rd anniversary in 5 days on the 26th!! And if you eat too much they have juice cleansing! How's the weather there? It's snowing here. Look out refrigerator after I log out!
