23Hoyt: An utter joyt.

I am fully comfortable admitting that I was one of the "Daylight Savings Complainers" today. As a long-suffering insomniac, I have enough trouble getting to sleep on the weekdays as is. Especially on Sundays. So to combine all of that and then deduct one additional hour... me no likey. Monday at work felt puffy and discombobulated and all I wanted to do was curl into the fetal position in my sweats. So while I was engraving "RIP MONDAY, MARCH 11" on a tombstone to hurry up the process (if you build it, it will come obviously-at least that's what Kevin told me), I was thinking about the weekends and what life is like when you can just 'be'. And eat.

I've never been to 23Hoyt before though I had long meant to go. On foot, it's about a 5 minute walk from my place. During a trek to the grocery store a couple weekends ago, we passed the front window just as Happy Hour was getting going: Bye Errands. Hello fine dining for cheap.

And yes, those are Bacon, Egg & Cheese Deviled Eggs. I mean... I can barely discuss my thoughts on stuff that good. Just yum. And because my drink is twice the size of his polite cocktail at 4 PM- I would just like to point out that I was only drinking club soda. Let the record show.

Here's to being one day closer to the freedom to eat, drink and be very weekendy-merry.

all photos are mine.

You are not alone. Naturally I used my sleep-short Monday to see my accountant and go over my income tax worksheets and backup materials. Oh joy, oh joy! Obviously I haven't adjusted yet because I'm commenting on your blog well after 2AM Eastern Daylight Savings Time. RIP March 11th and Hello Tuesday March 12th over 2 hours ago for me!

As long as I'm up. let me join you at 23 Hoyt (in fantasy anyway). Being an ovo-lacto vegetarian I don't think I can eat the entrees there, but maybe I could have some APPETIZERS (one each) of the BRUSCHETTA pistachio salsa verde and flageolet beans, the GRILLED FLATBREAD with whipped chevre, pickled currants, caramelized onions and arugula, the ARTISAN CHEESE PLATE a selection of three with apples, almonds and baguette followed by SIDES of Smashed yukon gold potatoes with chives and French fries with parsley and sea salt, and OF COURSE some DESERTS, like the Warm powdered sugar and salted caramel Donut Holes with the house blueberry preserves and the chantilly cream Peach Tartlet

Happy Tuesday! :)

I don't mind daylight savings as much since I love coming out of work when it's still light outside since I go to work so so early that it's always dark!

That candle is so neat! What a cool looking little place. If the food tastes even half as good as it looks, then they have done something completely right! Now I want bacon and cheese eggs too!
