Portland is chalk-full of good restaurants. And though I’m not as foodie-obsessed as some, I do try to make it a point to visit as many different ones as I can in the name of a change of scenery and varying cuisine. On Saturday, with the Sun quite literally flooding into every facet of the City, it seemed like the perfect time to try The Fireside. The chic eatery had just opened about 2 weeks prior and is situated exactly 3 blocks south of our apartment a.k.a. my kinda digs.
I am rarely a cocktail drinker. Make that super rarely. But on warm days such as this- the artistic qualities in a cocktail are far too tantalizing to turn down. So I obliged the Spirit(s) Gods and headed over to that portion of the menu to see what caught my fancy. And promptly landed on the following (mine on top, his on bottom):
cachaca + Cynar + lemon + pineapple gum
Amargo Chunko bitters
bourbon + Barenjager + black tea syrup
Underburg bitters + egg white + lemon
They were delish!
From there, we headed further south down the road and settled into less glamorous, more comfortable digs: McMenamin's. We sat and basked in the sun and enjoyed a beloved Portland favorite – a Ruby ale- before making our way back home for naps, lots of water and rest.
And from a personal standpoint, I later enjoyed how Denver Broncosy I looked without even trying. Making my Dad pretty proud.
