25 Things About Me

1.I'm a total night owl. If the world didn't require us to be coherent so early in the AM, I'm sure I'd regularly post blogs from 4:21 AM.

2.  I hate smoking. I hate the way it looks. I hate the way it smells. I don't get the appeal at all. I have a ton of bad habits & vices but smoking just ain't one of them miraculously.

3. I often watch the first 15 minutes of "The Devil Wears Prada" over and over and over again instead of watching the whole movie. I love both but the introduction is just so well done!

4. I would carry Chandler in a front belly child-carrying pouch if : A) I could fit him in one B) Find one that he would actually want to climb into C) I would be assured that no one would secretly take pics of me and upload them online. Basically, I just wish I could have him with me all day long because I love him more than I can say.
5. Like many, the question of "Why are we here?" plays in my mind a lot. I mean, why are we here? There's no right answer and I believe many different scenarios at the same time even if they conflict. It's a fascinating topic to try to wrap your mind around and I spend quite a bit of time trying to figure it out.

6. Being behind on my photo organization/finishing touches personally plagues me every day. I realize I complain about this a lot. But I will continue to do so. Because I will always be behind on my photos. And it will just be one long complain fest for the duration of my life.

7. I really like my eye makeup a certain way. A very specific way. Though I spend many a time with lighter makeup as I go about my life, I have long decided I am done taking people's thoughts on what it should look like. I like it how I like it. Not for everyone but it's for me. That's really the name of that game.

8. I love capers. Love, love, love capers.

9. I am a very poor packer. Usually I overpack like the dickens but then the odd few times I don't, I'm completely ill-equipped. It's really bad and I wish I knew how to do it properly (no matter how many online sources I've read).

10. I don't want to ever own a car (vs. an SUV). I don't like being that low to the ground.

11. Sometimes I feel like I embody being super outgoing and then other times I find myself with groups of people acting like an awkward mess for no tangible reason. I can't figure out the barometer as to why this happens randomly but apparently my personality is 'very outgoing' & 'quiet and shy' all in one.
12. I am horrible at Twitter (@caitielady08). I continually try and give it a sad, desperate shot. But honestly, I need more than 140 characters to be charming. I'm just not that funny in such small quips. I lose (on average), one follower every time I post on Twitter and each time I see it I'm like "Yup, sounds about right ...", lol.

13.  I like Pam from "The Office". However, in the last season when she gives Jim a hard time as he tries to live his dream, I can't stand her.  I watch that show on repeat and I just can't take her season 9. Rude. Rude. Rude. Ugh, drives me nuts! Let the person you love follow his dream!

14. After a 10-minute warm-up, I'll kick your a** at HORSE. I've got a strong 3-pointer.
15. I usually drive with my left foot out the window on nice days.

16. I still have the iPhone 4. I would say 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" as a defense but it also has a cracked screen. Thankfully I never actually talk to people on the phone otherwise there'd be shards of glass against my ear. Sidenote: If you ever want to have the most awkward conversation of your life, go ahead and give me a call. I hate talking on the phone!

17. I struggle with people who have a 'Princess' mentality. I'm sure even Kate Middleton would help pitch a tent at a friends' camping retreat. And I bet she would refrain from whining if she had to eat at a restaurant she didn't choose. Lawdy lawd, I know we all have our crappy/bad mood days but if nothing else: I just really hope my future children aren't brats on the reg to people. That will be my main goal in their development!

18. I love my husband most when we are in his hometown. I feel like I really see him shine and I felt like that the first time he took me there in 2009. He knows dang well I'm in love with "Ashland Jay", also helps that the city itself is a favored staycation for me.
19. I only like domestic beer when I'm in the blazing sun, rafting on the river. Otherwise, keep your sh*tty Bud/Keystone/Coors Light far away from me. If I wanted water, I'd get some water.

20. If I had the extreme means, I would open an animal sanctuary in my backyard. And spend all my days working at it and constantly do cool things like this.
21. Self-deprecating humor is the way to my heart. People who hilariously knock themselves as they describe their life are just the best.

22. People who never make fun of themselves aren't on my top list of people to hang out with. I believe that you are #soblessed, #sohappy (really, I do! I'm happy for you too!) but the pretentiousness of always advertising perfection wanes on me. That doesn't mean that I don't enjoy reading about someone's gratitude for their life or anything like that, I just mean when that's ALL they ever say I get a little "yeah, yeah ...".

23. I have one game on my phone: Tetris. And I play it a lot. And I care a ton about my score!

24. I wear sunglasses on the train to/from work no matter the weather or time of day. I don't feel like making eye contact on there, I don't feel like interacting, I just like to zone out and either prep myself for the work day or relax following it.

25. I was the editor of my student newspaper in high school, photographer for the Yearbook and studied Journalism starting in 10th grade through college. My career couldn't be further from any of these interests and so I think that's why I like to just shunt my creativity here instead. I've always been someone who likes to put "pen" to "paper" alongside their memories.

Any random, fun facts for me?

haha tetris is the only game I play on my phone too. And yeah, if people can make fun of themselves, pffft to them. Animal sanctuary would be fun. Why are we here will drive one crazy if they think about it too much. hahaha you'd have lots of people snapping pics of you if you carried him around 24/7. Might be bad for the back too.

100% agree with #2...Never understood that habit.
I have the same personality you mention in #11. I just can't explain it!
I play you in a game of HORSE...I'm probably very, VERY rusty, but I too used to have a mean 3-pointer. #beforekids
DITTO #15...And Ben thinks I am so weird for doing that!!
I have a hard time dealing with "Princess" people as well. My thought is we all have to go #2 and all of our #2's smell, so get over yourself. :)
Ditto #21 and #22 also! We would definitely get along based on these two! I have lots of "Mom of the Year" awards (sarcasm!) and stories I could share with you!
Thanks for sharing your fun facts...They are all great! :)

Whoa, I thought I was the only one who couldn't stand Pam in the last season of The Office. She just got to be annoying once the kids came along for some reason.

Also, I wanted to let you know that you've popped up as a no-reply blogger so I can't respond to the comment you've left me this week. Do you know how to fix that? I can help you if you'd like!

Aw I miss you. I think you should have included as one of the items "I write really sweet and touching birthday messages to my friends on facebook" because I always love to read those. Also, ever since the return of MDE I am constantly frustrated about the fact I've only sorted through about 1% of them.

Did I write this? Specifically, did I write about how awkward I am on the phone, how people who never make fun of themselves or don't get self-deprecating humor aren't on the top of my lists, how I wear sunglasses on the train to/from work every day regardless of weather or time of day or year, how I want to punch princess people, how I'm not good at Twitter, how I love capers, how I don't care what other people think of how I wear or don't wear eye makeup, and how sometimes I'm outgoing and sometimes I'm super reserved and there's no rhyme or reason why?

Whew. Loved this post!

I also dislike Pam in season 9. I thought they did her a disservice - that's not really who she is. Although it was realistic, because it's not who I am either, but when MFD was pursuing his dream job and the stability and stress were up to me, that made me a little bit different than I normally am. A little more tense and reactive.

Oh and of course how I'd wear my dogs in papooses but they'd never let me.

I totally suck at Twitter too. I have a heard time keeping up with all the social media channels plus blogging...twitter just isn't that appealing to me. I'd rather look at photos on instagram.

I love these little nuggets. I'm the opposite to you when it comes to packing - I'll get enough socks and underwear for the trip, some t-shirts and jeans, put them in a suitcase and think "Aren't I forgetting something? Oh well, I have cash." and shut the suitcase.

However I do have the same thing as you when it comes to feeling outgoing sometimes and self-conscious other times. I think it has something to do with my sleeping patterns. If I can get to bed before 11 and get up at 7:30 two days in a row, I'll be the life of the party. Two nights in a row of getting to bed past midnight or sleeping in past 7:30 and I lose it.

I am also a night owl.

I go through phases where I prefer wine, beer, and ciders/sugary drinks.

I wish it was socially acceptable to be a night owl and function on that schedule instead of the normal. I get SO much more done late at night and that is always when my creativity and inspiration hits too.

Rose @ Ramblin' Rose said...

I'm a total night owl and not a morning person at all. Why can't days start at 10? I would carry my cat around all day if I could but I'm pretty sure he would claw me within the first hour. I still have an iPhone 4s. It works fine and no cracked screen so why get a new one?

Miss Caitlin S. said...

@Pat- ha, yeah- my back would go out. I'm also not sure why I have to carry him in this scenario rather than him just walking ... :)

Miss Caitlin S. said...

@Lindsey- ha! Yess, basketball girls unite! I bet you'd be great after you de-rustified. I ALWAYS need a warm-up but it eventually emerges. thanks for your comment, was fun to read!

Miss Caitlin S. said...

@Kristin- yeah, I am just so bothered by it every time I watch it. And thanks for the tip ... I don't know how to fix that but I will google it.

Miss Caitlin S. said...

@Mir- lol, I miss you too!!!

Miss Caitlin S. said...

@BLovedBoston- the packing struggle is real :(

Miss Caitlin S. said...

@Steph- ha!! yes! So funny. And yes, I agree they did her a little bit of a disservice. I understand being nervous about a leap to a new city and a shift in their life. But after Jim was soooo supportive of her in NYC and has settled at DM for so long, I felt really bothered that she wouldn't go out on a limb for him. Anyway, rehashing old shows, ha.

Miss Caitlin S. said...

@Emily- I'm with you too, Instagram is by fay my favorite.

Miss Caitlin S. said...

@Michael- Men are generally better packers. And that's interesting about you relating it to your sleeping patterns!

Miss Caitlin S. said...

@Robin- yes, the palette phases! I'm only ever into wine or beer.

Miss Caitlin S. said...

@Kati- that's exactly how I feel!

Miss Caitlin S. said...

@Rose- word on the phone! My friends keep giving me a hard time and I'm pretty okay saving my money... Days starting at 10 would be life changing.

I can't even imagine how many photos of Hawkeye are online - because of all the ridiculous things I do. I take her everywhere. Everyone loves to take photos of the dog on the bar stool at the local dive bar. I would take her to work if I could!

Lauren Farrow said...

Oh, I love this! I agree with so many of the things you mention in this post... carrying my dog with me everywhere, animal sanctuary, night owl, hate smoking..... Also, after reading your blog and seeing how prolific you are I have often thought that this must be your creative outlet.

Sorry I'm late to the game and missed a lot of your recent posts. Major life changes happening...
