Coffee Tables + Thoughtful Searches

I’ve been thinking about coffee tables a lot lately. That sounds weird, but I really have. The thing is: I don’t know what constitutes a ‘good’ one AND I think they are the most important piece in a living room. What does a cool coffee table look like? I have no trouble spying one when I am looking at the incredibly expensive furniture websites. Oh- so that’s a nice coffee table, cool? I got you girl. But the problem is- I’m not trying to spend a grand on one. And the ‘cheap’ options leave a lot of room for the interior decorator challenged to wonder if they’re getting it right. But I seriously can’t figure out- is it better to be a kind of ghost variety or do you want one super pronounced that stands out? HAYYYYYLP.

Oh and word to the wise: Do not google “Coffee Table P*rn” and then as it loads, turn away and watch TV for a few minutes. You will undoubtedly return to your computer screen, eyes bleeding, wondering what in the world you are looking at and why your activity now needs an in-house exorcism. It took me a few seconds to figure out why I was looking at these unholy search results. Phew, not for the faint of heart. Also, thankfully the couple people kind of sitting behind me (who I did not know that well, mind you) were glued to the TV as well during this page loading. Can you imagine if they looked down and saw that? I’m sure they’d be like “… uh .. so that’s what that girl casually googles while she watches TV in a room full of people? Mmmk…”. Anyway, give me a nice coffee table at a reasonable price and search results that don’t send me straight to confession. Is that too much to ask!?

And finally- happy anniversary to my sweet friend pictured. This post really had no pictures involved (sacrilegious!) and then I remembered that it's her first anniversary today! Yay for that!

Have a great Monday! I hate to do some weird cliffhanger post but I’m actually quite excited about some life changes that I get to talk about this week. :) It doesn’t include children but it does include a moving truck. Dum-dum-dum!

Talk soon!

I'm probably not the best one to answer this because we got our coffee table as a hand me down - and it's circular which is not the norm but I love it! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

LOL at googling coffee table porn! I hear ya on the struggle, I've been in the market for a new one as well and I'm trying to find the perfect balance between IKEA and not dropping a boat load of money :-P

Have you checked Craigslist? Or look out for all the huge sales at furniture places for Labor Day.

hahahaha at googling coffee table porn that is hilarious.
i found a coffee table i loved - it was like ottoman / tufted up top with a shelf on the bottom. i wanted to be able to rest my feet whilst still having storage / places to put baskets and stuff. but it was like $3000 lol so i attempted to diy one (following a tutorial of someone much better than me) and we did the tufted bit, now i just need to paint it. it's been sitting in my spare room for like 6 months lol.
good luck!

hahaha I'll take your word for it on the google. I don't have a coffee table at all here, can't say I think about them much. Hope the move goes well.

When somebody tells me not to do something, it usually leads me to wanting to do it more. But in this case - I think I may take your word for it.

We use a big storage ottoman so it's comfortable to put your feet up on, holds blankets and pillows, and we put a tray on it to hold drinks.
