Packing & Birthdays

I'm tired y'all. So, so tired. Moving manages to suck the life blood out of you. While it's generally pretty exciting to set sights on a new venture, the overwhelming feeling of poring over every.single.thing.you.own while wondering how in heaven's name you even have so much stuff is not easy. Then there's the sorting, the cleaning, the decision on what to keep, the taping, the lugging, ai-yi-yi!

^Birthday views: Sorry if you already saw this on Instagram, this is not my week of lots of cool photos!

Last Saturday was my birthday which had been highly anticipated by me for a few years once I realized it would fall on a Saturday in 2015. Having a summer birthday isn't exactly a picnic, to be honest. Everyone is busy and your day is likely taken up by someone else's event or vacation, etc. So it's always a bit hard to get anyone to even care that you go balls out for them in the cold months for theirs (Cold weather birthdays = something fun to do! Summer birthdays = getting in the way of everyone's life). BUT, I had figured for awhile I would plan something for this year. No dice, we spent the entire day packing our place up. Of course it was fun with some champagne energizing us and some gifts and visits but it was still a total waste of a Saturday birthday. Couldn't I have had my weekend birthday next year?? #whining

However, as of today, my husband (and most everything we own) are heading south. Jay is driving to SF to set up our new place before flying back up here for a wedding the following weekend. And despite the pain of moving, the non-fun on my Saturday birthday: That is incredibly energizing to think about.

I hope you have a great Wednesday!

I hear ya on the summer birthday, I loved that I never had to go to school on my birthday, and sometimes get to do fun events revolving around being outside and in the water but your guest list is always chopped in half because like you said people are busy. But I'll take the warm weather and fun activities any day over being cooped up inside during the freezing cold for a birthday celebration!

*Hugs* hope you get some well needed rest, and drink all the champs! I love how you have a bottle of champagne on the moving boxes. Best idea ever :-D

Yep, moved 16 times so far, never ever fun with the packing and actual moving part. Hey, cheer up, you'll have another saturday birthday in 2020 lol

Sounds like we're both Leos!! My birthday was the Sunday before yours. :) Everything will fall in place, but I know that packing is rough and tiring. Are you renting or did you decided to buy? Best of luck to you!! xo

Sorry you got the shaft for the birthday this year, I'd totally be whining about that because I freaking love my birthday.

So exciting to think of what's ahead though? Small consolation, I know.

Happy late birthday girl! I feel you on the summer birthday, mine is in June. :( Sucks you had to pack on your birthday but at least you got to pack with champagne? Champs makes everything better!

Packing can be such a nightmare! I wish you the best of lucks with this, because it can suck your energy and become irritating. But at the end... it is a step towards something better
