At the very tail-end of our trip, Jay and I said goodbye to
his hilarious little brother who jetted back to California and we reviewed our
itinerary for our last two days of alone time. One thing I really wanted to do
was go visit the fountain where Anne Hathaway (via Andy Sachs) throws her
phone at the very end of “The Devil Wears Prada” clip here. We had passed it briefly at
the very end of our big walk
on our last day with his parents but I wanted to come back with the tripod
in tow and take some Paris pictures of us. A slow, belaboring task that I figured
would best be suited to just subject my husband to vs his entire family. So
after a slow, blissful morning of getting ready in our last AirBNB -which by
the way, had a view like this:
… we set off to spend a chilly yet sunny October day together,
camera and cumbersome tripod in tow. Upon leaving our flat's front door, we were surrounded by local music and wall art that made our dalliance a little bit slower.
After filling ourselves up on all that culture, we made a beeline straight to the Fontaines de la Concorde or, as idiots call it, “there’s that fountain from ‘The Devil Wears Prada!!!’”. And it was there that I took the gazillion pictures I had hoped to take, which by volume alone, you can see why I didn’t subject my in-laws to:

After that fun activity (for me at least!), we moseyed away
from the fountain and down the Avenue des Champs-Élysées towards the Arc de
Triomphe. We were both in really high spirits (as one should be when in Paris
with their love- and their love could be anything from a husband to a warm croissant as far as I'm concerned) and held hands as the sun cascaded across our faces and the
crunch of the leaves echoed under our shoes. True to our own form, we sniffed
out a cafe quicker than you could say “Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.”
but at least had the good sense to do so blocks away from the Arc de Triomphe. I
know an inflated menu due to close proximity to a tourist-centric attraction when I see one.
And true to Paris’ form, the small, quaint café we landed at still served us nobodies
food in a poetic manner as if we were dignitaries whom they had to impress.
Later in the afternoon, as the sky made its dramatic
transformation into a cold, iridescent blue shade, we ambled back toward our AirBNB.
By the time we arrived back at our front door, the sky was a charcoal black and
our previously buzzing neighborhood just murmured with the joviality of the nighttime
revelers. We squeezed into the traditional tiny European elevator and set our
sights on some rest with our last full day tomorrow at the forefront of our
minds.
And with that, I only have one more Paris post left. Which I’ll wrap-up next week and pat myself on the back for doing so as I've never successfully finished an ENTIRE trip recap before. Go.me! #GoalsNoOneCaresAboutButMe
Anddddd, if you have 1:20, here's snippets from the fountain and the cafe. I don't even know if I've ever posted Jay talking on here before, how exciting!:

Totally worth lugging the tripod.
Love the writing in this. I can hear the crunch of leaves under your feet.
That sounds like the perfect start to time just the two of y'all in Paris! That fountain is so cute, and I totally would have been freaking out about it being the one from Devil Wears Prada too! I love that y'all were able to just walk around the city and take in some of the everyday sights and occurrences, and just enjoy being in Paris! I can't wait to read your last post!
Pics turned out great indeed. Worth taking the tripod along. Like how you got the smooth flow of the water too. The fountain was sure noisy in the video haha
I never realized how gorgeous that fountain was from the movie, and now I'm obsessed! Such a beautiful day in the most beautiful city <3

These pictures are just so fantastic! Totally worth lugging the tripod around. I really should bring mine more places. Love the video!
The fountain pictures are just so gorgeous and especially the one with the long exposure!! Tripod was worth it for those pics! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
Great fountain shots, but I got totally distracted by that lip colour, it's gorgeous and suits you soooo well!
Now the video... I know you guys are American but when I read your posts I totally still read them in my Aussie accent in my mind so whenever I see you speak I'm always surprised haha. For some reason I think Jay looks completely different in video form and sounds nothing like I expected!
:)
