Going To Make Flannel Happen

Of all the reasons to get dressed, I think I'm the worst at casual wear. What I like to don to be out in the world is a bit more done-up than a lot of people like on themselves. I just always like looking more ... I don't know the word, "dressed-up in dark goth clothes" (an example of my casual look here)? And when I'm being casssssuallll in my sense of the word, I'm usually in workout pants and a hoodie for my Sunday errands. I've got no issues dressing properly for work and have an array of garments for that. But just your run-of-the-mill, casual look is the one I find most difficult to piece together. I'm not usually a sneakers and jeans type of gal.

I've been purging my closet and house all week of unwanted items and I've been doing a pretty good job of being realistic with myself about what I will actually wear again and what I will not. And while a lot of the bags destined for charity are full of casual wear I didn't pull off, I'm keeping this yellow flannel top. Because gosh darn-it, I like it a lot. Even if I've only worn it twice in two years due to my struggle with casual clothes. I'm gonna find a way to rock it out in San Francisco, mark my words (and don't say I don't have goals).

I am a flannel lover. I have been since the 90s! I have something in my post about it tomorrow.

Love that top, friend! I was always a little blah about my casual wear too, but after moving to Amsterdam, sneakers & jeans have become staples for me. Now to revamp my jean style so I can be a little more casual-cool like the people here ;) Lol!

I'm not very good at casual either but I'd have to say both you and your sweet pup are rocking it!! Like hello cutie pies, people in San Fran will do a double take when they see you in this adorable flannel!!

I know what you mean about sometimes not actually being able to dress casually. Half the time on the weekends I end up not wearing any makeup or wearing anything too fancy because I'm just so over having to do all of that stuff for work.
Way to go for cleaning out your closet! I really need to do that and do a good purge of stuff that I never will wear again. I'm glad that you kept that plaid shirt though. Because it's so cute on you, and you never know when you'll feel like dressing normal casual on the weekend!

I too am not very good at dressing casual. I love that flannel top, I have always loved flannel tops. I never use to wear sneakers but I find myself wearing them more and more lately.

I like dressed up wear more than casual too! I really love that you stuck with that yellow top - gives more pop than the usual plaid ones! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

Love this look! I think I'm the opposite of you where I love dressing causal and rarely dress up unless is for an event or wedding!

i love seeing what you wear (that sounds creepy?) because you always look super put together and dressy in your everyday outfits. i can do dressed up, i can do work, i can do leggings + a hoodie, but i'm not the best with actual casual either. it feels weird. anyway. this top looks fabulous on you, glad you decided to keep it!

I love flannel... I made a blanket scarf this winter that has been a staple for me. Definitely keep the shirt! I think it's better to be a little more done than less, you never regret that!

Lately I've been in a rut where I'll dress nice(ish...I usually wear jeans) to work and then on weekends/after work I just want to wear a sweatshirt and maaaybe even wear my Uggs in public (I normally avoid this like the plague). I feel like I'm neglecting my good clothes.
