I speak a lot about my love of city life. And that's because it's etched into our day-to-day and is a huge fabric of our identity at this chapter in our life. It brings with it so many charms (for us, maybe not for everyone) that we love enough to continue doing it. But that doesn't mean it's without its sacrifice. I mean, at this point you could show me your backyard, garage, attic and pantry and I'd be all "Mmmm girl, you should submit this to 'MTV Cribs'." Space is the most coveted thing for downtowners.
Unlike a lot of bloggers who show you a charmed office or glamorous nook, I'm about to show you the very bland place where I blog. And ringing true to the 'other side' of city life, it's in a place that I have to set-up when I start and deconstruct when I'm done as it's smack dab in the middle of our kitchen and living room as there isn't any other option in our pad. But if you would like a visual of where I come to purge this drivel every evening for no apparent reason, here's some snippets ...
^This chair usually lives in a corner. I have to bring it over to the 'breakfast bar' on Sundays to do my blogging. As I set everything else up, I compile other items I need and put them on the chair while I plug in cords, etc.
^Headphones so I can zone out and type and not let Jay's Sunday night TV distract me. Glasses because all the better to see you with, my dear. And of course, my laptop with my Apple product screaming at me forever and ever that my storage is almost full. alkdsjfaldjflakjfaldkf. I'm sorry Steve Jobs, but in the words of Chandler Bing: Shut up, shut up, shutttttt upppppppp.
^Once I get my laptop on the buffet bar, I'll place the chair items up there too. See the kitchen sink backdrop? I mean it's just so glamorous!
^Only have a glass of wine on Sundays. Not if I blog mid-week. Normally my camera would be there too but I'm using it to take these pics - obviously.
^External hard drive for my photos, mouse, glass of lemon water and my phone.
^And here's where I hop to it.
Behind the laptop lid is our kitchen and behind my back is our living room. Here I sit to edit pictures and type, type, type away for a couple hours. When I'm done, the chair goes back in the corner. The laptop goes back in its sleeve. My headphones, mouse and external hard drive go back to their stored locations and it's as if I was never here at all.
And that my friends, is where I blog.
