My mom is kind.
That sounds like a way to diminish someone in just one insignificant word. But she is. She's kind.
I am kind from my mom. Well, I'm not always kind. I know I have my human moments where I suck. But generally speaking, I think I'm a notably kind person (at least I really, truly hope). A person who likes people not despite of but BECAUSE of their quirks. A person who values other cultures. A person who values childhood.
A person who gave me the best one ever.
If I could summarize my overall time with my mom as a child it would be the sheer excitement us kids (my older sis, me & younger bro) had when we knew holidays were upon us. We'd race home from school to find ghosts dangling from the ceilings or we'd open our lunch boxes to heart shaped PB&Js on Valentine's Day or we'd all be frosting cookies together in holiday prep. My Mom was all in the details.
And all in the big picture stuff too. I can talk to my Mom forever. She's insightful without being condescending. She's ready to give advice but respects the chapter of your life and let's you ask for it first. My mom has old school advice but has new school respect to wait to give it to you. My mom lets you "be". And that's truly quite a gift.
I love you forever, Mom. And ever. And ever. And ever after that. Thank you.
