I awoke on New Year's Day as I do most days - with my dress rehearsal wake-up before the normal wake-up about an hour and a half later. Does everyone else do this? I usually feel my eyes bolting open at about 4:45 AM and feel a mixture of relief and frustration when I discover that I don't have to get-up yet. Usually my nightstand iPhone reaching is enough to rise Chandler who will inevitably wiggle out of the cave he's made under the blankets, stretch and then collapse in a big huff in a new caveesque locale.

This time that new spot was adjacent to my chest where he curled-up into a donut, huffed (as usual) and settled in for his second sleep. Riding on that train myself, I ruffled down into the sheets, closed my eyes and drifted off. But just as I managed to make it to dreamland, Chandler moved his sweet little head onto my shoulder and neck. Where it remained for two more hours.
And I figured that starting my year that way was just not too bad. Not too bad at all.

After all, I am looking forward to 2017! Namely because the utter stress of my end of year is dissipating and I have a new work title to go along with my brand, spanking new promotion (I really wasn't making up how busy I was in December and how hard I was working).
So with that, I bid you a happy new year and a big hug as we embark on 2017!
